The biggest and best global sporting festival will kick off in South Africa in just 126 days time and as the globe counts down to the main event there's just one question on everyone's lips: who will sing the official theme song?
Today we got our answer as r'n'b superstar Akon together with Keri Hilson and The Soweto Gospel Choir released their effort - 'Oh Africa'.
A lively number featuring plenty of rhythmic chanting and African background singing, the song includes the usual inspirational lyrics that don't really make much sense - chorus: 'This our time to show, our time to fly, our time to be inside the sky; our time to so, our time of song; the last one in football.'
The accompanying music video is a colourful affair, full of smiling, happy people celebrating the greatest show on earth - as it should be.
Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres are enlisted to don their shooting boots and help paint a mural of some of the finest footballers set to feature in the World Cup: Lionel Messi, Thierry Henry, Kaka and... Andrey Arshavin. Whoops.
Some of the home nations might also get a little over excited when they see the many faces painted with national flags of competing countries, one of which seems to be the Union Jack.
But, before the Scottish FA gets a little hot under the collar, a gentle reminder: no, it is only England who are heading to South Africa this summer.
But now the burning question of the World Cup anthem has been answered we must all now wait with bated breath to see whether England will themselves release an official World Cup theme. The way John Terry is alleged to have been carrying on it looks like there can only be one suitable song: Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division.
Not going to the World Cup: Arsenal and Russia star Andrey Arshavin
